Virginia Kider - Walter

Virginia Kider-Walter, 92, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 1:25 P.M. Saturday January 21, 2017, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston, IL. She was born December 2, 1924, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Ruby (Phillips) Stewart. She married Joe McGrew and he preceded her in death. She then married Bruce Kider and he preceded her in death. She later married George Walter at the Rossville United Methodist Church in Rossville, IL. He survives in Hoopeston. She is survived by two grandchildren, Kevin (DeEtte) Stump and Karen (Joe) Haggerty; five great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Jon) Kent, Regan Stump, Derek Stump, Heather (Paul) Youngmark and Jonathon (Kasey) Haggerty and five great-great-grandchildren, J.D. Kent, Kilronan and Dempsey Youngmark, and Gwendolyn and Graham Haggerty. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jackie Stump and one brother, Charles Stewart. Virginia worked in Public Relations for the United States Air Force and the United States Army for thirty years. She was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church in Rossville, IL. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Virginia enjoyed knitting, painting, playing the organ and piano and especially loved her dog, Barkley. A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday January 24, 2017 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Matt Stump officiating. Burial will follow in the Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, IL. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
