Shirley L. Cobb, 78, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 2:07 A.M. Monday September 25, 2017, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center in Hoopeston, IL. She was born October 21, 1938, in Charter Oak, MO, the daughter of Arvil and Ruby (Malone) O’Neal. She married William L. Cobb in Corning, AR, on June 19, 1965. He preceded her in death. She is survived by four daughters, Donna Kay (John) Atten of Little Elm, TX, Jeanne (Lonnie) Yensull of Oklahoma City, OK, Penny (Roger Burk) Robinson of Hoopeston, IL and Verna (Steve) Compton of Hoopeston, IL; three sons, Randy (Cynthia) Baker of Flint, TX, Allan (Janie) Baker of Hoopeston, IL and Richard (Jennifer) Cobb of Arlington, TX; two sisters, Connie “Gail” (Lloyd) Simpson of Paris, IL and Beverly “Suzy” (Randy) Hurt of Danville, IL; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Lillie “Mae” Shipman and Phyllis J. White; three brothers, Lloyd “Lee” O’Neal, Marshall Junior O’Neal and Charles D. O’Neal; and one brother-in-law, L.D. Shipman. Shirley was a homemaker. She loved animals and was an avid supporter of animal and children’s foundations. Her hobbies included singing, sewing, cake decorating and going to casinos. She also enjoyed cooking and was famous for her fried pies. Shirley’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and friends. A visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday September 27, 2017 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday September 28, 2017 at the funeral home, with Rev. Lloyd Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Memorials may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Hoopeston Animal Shelter 901 W. Main St. Hoopeston, IL 60942.
