Sharon Kay Drennan

May 4, 1940 - September 1, 2020

Sharon Kay (Claypool) Drennan, 80, of Alvin, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born on May 4, 1940, in Rossville, IL, the daughter of Roy and Madeline (Stump) Claypool. She married Clarence Drennan on December 20, 1970 at the Rossville Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband, Clarence; two step-sons, Mike (Rita) Drennan and Tim (Chris) Drennan; four grandchildren, Shawn (Becky) Drennan, Allen (Brandi) Drennan, Paul Drennan, and Ashley (Gabe) Shonk; eight great-grandchildren, Morgan Drennan, Tristan Drennan, Bishop Drennan, Alissa Shonk, Aubrey Shonk, Keira Shonk, Chloe Shonk, and Kenton Shonk; one aunt, Ruth Stump; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one stepson, Kevin Drennan; one sister, Viola (Breck) Henke; one brother, Larry (Madelyn) Claypool; one infant sister, Betty Claypool; and one infant brother, Charlie Claypool. Sharon was a homemaker and sold Avon for over 25 years. In her earlier years, she worked by her mother’s side managing restaurants in Rossville and Bismarck. She was a Christian and read the Bible through 3 times which she enjoyed speaking about. Sharon and Clarence enjoyed spoiling several dogs over the years and even a cat early on. Sharon’s hobbies included playing cards and board games, collecting mice figurines and Avon knickknacks, and talking to her family members on the phone. She enjoyed eating out at Merita’s Family Restaurant in Rossville. She also enjoyed visiting with her nieces and nephews and attending family gatherings. Cremation rites will be accorded, and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 8, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery in rural Alvin, IL, with Pastor Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Memorials may be made to Sharon’s family.
