Rita Ann (Woesthaus) Tolch Dean

March 11, 1939 - March 15, 2016

Rita Ann (Woesthaus) Tolch Dean, 77, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:01 P.M. Tuesday March 15, 2016 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born March 11, 1939 in East St. Louis, IL, the daughter of Francis I. and Mary Edythe (Fritsch) Woesthaus. She married Donald Dean on June 21, 1997 at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Hoopeston. He survives in Hoopeston. She is also survived by three daughters, Joan (Steve) Duffy of Pontiac, IL, Terri (Phill) Henton of Spring, TX and Anne Marie Tolch of Pontiac, IL; two sons, Steve (Mary Ann) Tolch of Henderson, KY and Andy (Christy) Tolch of South Bend, IN; two step-sons, Brad (Myriam) Dean of Myrtle Beach, SC and Mark (Natalie) Dean of Springfield, IL; two sisters, Mary (Richard) Woesthaus Ruggles of Nashville, IL and Joan (Gerald) Woesthaus Luechtefeld of Lively Grove, IL and thirteen grandchildren, Katherine Duffy, Kevin Duffy, Nicole Tolch, Michael Tolch, David (Kitty) Schaub, Danielle (Jared) Whalen, Christopher (Kelsey) Tolch, Brittney Tolch, Nicholas Tolch, Seth Tolch, Shaye Tolch, Bryan Dean and Gina Dean. She is preceded in death by her parents. Rita worked as a teacher for twenty years in the Hoopeston Area School District until her retirement. She was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed volunteering her time at the St. Anthony’s Food Bank and St. Vincent DePaul. Rita started the Sweetheart Valentine’s Dinner at the High School for seniors. She enjoyed performing in the Hoopeston Public Library plays, writing poetry and stories and going to her grandchildren’s events. A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday March 20, 2016 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. A rosary service will be held at 3:45 P.M. The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday March 21, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church 423 S. Third St. Hoopeston, IL, with Father Ted Pracz and Father Patrick O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Memorials may be made in Rita’s memory to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 423 S. Third St. Hoopeston, IL 60942 or Sweet Adelines C/O Peggy Marruffo 7 Carriage Lane Danville, IL 61832.
