Rebecca Jewell Shepherd Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Rebecca Jewell Shepherd, 91, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 7:00 A.M. Friday January 24, 2014 at Heritage Health in Hoopeston, IL. She was born November 4, 1922, the daughter of William and Madeline (Shelby) Beckley. She married Doyle Shepherd on November 9, 1941 at her parents’ home in Rossville, IL. He preceded her in death. She is survived by one daughter, Vickie (Gary) Danner of Rossville, IL; one son, Doyne (Kris) Shepherd of Twin Lakes, WI; one brother, Franklin (Ann) Beckley of Yorkville, IL; one brother-in-law, Jim Graham of Paxton, IL; one special sister-in-law Ruth Gernand of Rossville, IL; four grandchildren, Marta (Bobby) Pierce, Shelley (Robert) Fitzgerald, Lehn (Angela) Shepherd and Tessa Shepherd; six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Ryan, Madeline, Addison and Preston and several nieces and nephews. Rebecca worked as a beautician before becoming a homemaker. She later worked at Hoopeston Hospital as a Nurse’s Aide. Rebecca was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rossville for many years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and picture puzzles. She also enjoyed baking, cross stitching and most of all, spending time with her family. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church 126 S.
