Otto Knoll Jr, 87, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:45 A.M. Tuesday November 17, 2015 at Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Living in Hoopeston. He was born October 4, 1928 at home in Fountain Creek Township, the son of Otto and Eunice (Beggs) Knoll Sr. He married Barbara Jean Mayhew on January 7, 1951 in Prairie Green near Wellington, IL. She preceded him in death. He is survived by one daughter, Jo (Phillip) Alt of Hoopeston, IL; two sons, David (Diane) Knoll of Urbana, IL and Kim (Dana) Knoll of Hoopeston, IL; one sister-in-law, Lindy Knoll of Hoopeston, IL; one brother-in-law, Harold Ingold of Rankin, IL; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marjorie Ingold and three brothers, Russell, Richard, and Donald Knoll. Otto served in the United States Army from 1951-1953 in Pusan Korea during the Korean War, he was a member of the Hoopeston American Legion Post # 384. He was a lifelong farmer, member of the Iroquois County Farm Bureau and served on the Fountain Creek-Lovejoy drainage district. Otto was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking with wood from old barns and refinishing antique pieces. His smile will be greatly missed. A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Friday November 20, 2015 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E Main St. Hoopeston. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 P.M. Friday November 20, 2015 at the funeral home, with Pastor Cathy Najmon officiating. Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, with military rites being accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384 and the Hoopeston VFW Buddy Egnew Post #4826. Memorials may be made to the Iroquois Memorial Hospice 200 Laird Ln Watseka, IL 60970. Anderson Funeral Home in Hoopeston is handling the arrangements.
