Norma Jean Strawser, 80, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 11:13 A.M. Sunday January 4, 2015 at Country Health Care in Gifford, IL. She was born April 25, 1934, in Bismarck, IL, the daughter of Carl and Onda (Brown) Isley. She married Robert W. Strawser on December 26, 1953, in Bismarck, IL. He survives in Gifford, IL. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley (Terry) Daulton of Lafayette, IN; three sons, Gary (LeeAnn) Strawser of Hoopeston, IL, Larry (Brenda) Strawser of Peoria, AZ and Jerry Strawser of Baird, TX; 7 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Norma worked as a switchboard operator, before she became a homemaker. She was a member of the Rossville Church of Christ and also volunteered at Prairie States Christian Camp and Hanging Rock Church Camp. Norma’s hobbies included crocheting, quilt making, knitting, sewing, cooking and babysitting. She also enjoyed making things for the Chrisman Nursing Home, where she also volunteered. Norma’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and cooking Sunday dinners for them. A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday January 7, 2015 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Thursday January 8, 2015 at the Rossville Church of Christ 514 E. Attica St. Rossville, IL, with Pastor Kevin Purdy officiating. Burial will follow in the Rossville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Illinois Chapter 303 N.
