Norma Joy Horton, 91, of Danville, IL, passed away at 4:10 A.M. Thursday July 18, 2019 at Danville Care Center in Danville, IL. She was born July 6, 1928, in Detroit, MI and was raised by James T. and Cora (Coleman) Davis. She married Donald J. Horton in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death. She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Joe) Hurst of The Villages, FL and Ronda Houmes of Danville, IL; two sons, Bill Horton of Cissna Park, IL and Mark (Janice Hart) Horton of Elkridge, MD; 5 grandchildren, Traci Hurst Meissner of Capo Beach, CA, Kory Horton of Corpus Christi, TX, Jessica Nunez of Dallas, TX, Bryan Houmes of Rantoul, IL, and Brett Houmes of Danville, IL; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, James T. and Cora Davis; one daughter, Connie Horton; and one brother and sister-in-law, Jim (Betty) Davis. Upon graduating from Rossville High School , Joy received the DAR Award, in which she was very proud of. After marrying her husband, Donald, she became a farm wife for 40 years and enjoyed preparing meals to take to the field for him and his workers. She later worked at the Rantoul IGA for 27 years. In her younger years, Joy enjoyed taking her children on family outings, gardening, and cooking. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 24, 2019 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Chaplain Glenn Corbly officiating. Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Danville Care Center, 1701 N. Bowman Ave. Danville, IL 61832, to help provide for the resident’s care.
