Mary Lou Allen, 80, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 11:26 A.M. Wednesday January 13, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. She was born February 3, 1940 in Tahoka, TX the daughter of Leslie and Stella (Adams) McKee. She married Russell Drew Allen in Tahoka, TX in 1961 and together they had two sons who survive, Roger (Vaughna) Allen of Hoopeston, IL and Rusty (Ellen) Allen of Lebanon, OH. She is also survived by one sister, Margaret (Ike) Carter of McKinney, TX; 7 grandchildren, Matthew (Audrey) Allen, Tyler Allen, Natasha (Bryan) Mandel, Brenna (Kevin) Pantig, and Gabriel (Amya) Allen, and Aubrey and Charis Allen; 3 great-grandchildren, Jade Pantig, Kinsey Allen, and Adeline Allen; 12 nieces and nephews, Chris Carter, Lisa Carter, Chad Allen, Gordon Allen, Danny Allen, Amy McNeill, Duane Allen, Geoffrey Porter, Aleta McGee, David Porter, Jennifer Duiven, and Jared Locke. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Audrey and Eudelle McKee. Mary Lou worked at the John Deere Foundry. She then worked for Grant Ross Credit Union for several years and then became a substitute teacher for Cissna Park and Hoopeston schools. She later worked as a bookkeeper for Raven’s. Mary Lou was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston where she was the organist and played for many local weddings and funerals. She enjoyed cooking, playing card games with family and friends, and spending time with her family. A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday January 19, 2021 at the First Baptist Church 323 E. Seminary Ave. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church 323 E. Seminary Ave., Hoopeston, IL 60942.
