June Gholson, 86, of Hoopeston, IL passed away at 2:20 A.M. Monday November 28, 2016 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. She was born August 13, 1930, in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of Fred and Geneva (Moffatt) Nelson. She married Walter Rodman and he preceded her in death. She later married Vernon Gholson and he also preceded her in death. She is survived by one step-daughter, Nancy (Jim) Miller of Carmel, IN: two step-sons, Jim (Lois) Gholson of Danville, IL and John (Robbie) Gholson of Eureka, IL; two sisters, Edith Baldwin of Hoopeston, IL and Joan Leslie of Hoopeston, IL; two brothers, Joe (Peggy) Nelson of Watseka, IL and Chris (Nancy) Nelson of Oswego, IL; many grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, James, Silva, Claire, and Anne Marie, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Fred Nelson. June worked in the office at John Deere in Hoopeston and later worked in the office at the Milford Canning Company. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston, where she taught Sunday school to young kids for many years. She enjoyed going on cruises, bowling, and going to dinners and plays. June especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Friday December 2, 2016 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 P.M. Friday December 2, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Adam Taubert officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
