Jeannette Fern McCann

Jeannette Fern McCann, 72, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:30 A.M. Tuesday August 5, 2014, at her home in Hoopeston. She was born August 14, 1941, in Spirit Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert Fern and Margaret (Reiter) Mitchell. She married Robert Eugene McCann on June 7, 1959. He survives in Hoopeston. She is survived by three sons, Perry (Nancy) McCann of Evansville, IN, David (Gidget) McCann of Murfreesboro, TN and Steve (Stacey) McCann of Charleston, IL; two brothers, Ken (Fern) Mitchell of Coleridge, NE, Dave (Olivia) Mitchell of Britt, IA; one sister-in-law, Carol Mitchell of Sioux Falls, SD; one brother-in-law, Dave Sampson of Grandview, MO; three grandchildren and fourteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Ruth Sampson and one brother Ed Mitchell. Jeannette worked at Gulbranson in Hoopeston, which later became CBS. She then worked at Food Machinery Corporation and she later worked at H & R Block. Jeannette attended New Beginnings Church in Hoopeston, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She also served as the pianist for the Sunday evening Chestnut Street Church of Christ Gospel Service for several years. Jeannette loved music and used it as a ministry, playing at local nursing homes. She enjoyed playing the piano, the accordion and singing. Jeannette also enjoyed reading, attending Bible study and boutiquing. Memorials may be made to the Hoopeston Chestnut Street Church of Christ 709 E.
