Gladys Nathalia Kuntz

May 6, 1927 - May 17, 2022

Gladys Nathalia Kuntz, 95, of Hoopeston, IL, went home to be with the Lord at 11:17 P.M. Tuesday May 17, 2022, at Autumn Fields Adult Community in Hoopeston. She was born May 6, 1927, in Fountain Creek Township, the daughter of John and Alline (Bauer) Otto. She married Charlie “Charlo” Kuntz on November 1, 1950, at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston. He survives in Hoopeston. She is also survived by five children, Ken (Dana) Kuntz of Hoopeston, IL, Mary (Jim) Hawley of Waukesha, WI, Ron (Jody) Kuntz of Hoopeston, IL, Susan (Mark) Wagoner of Hoopeston, IL, and Jayne Kuntz (Phil Chmielewski) of Champaign, IL; one daughter-in-law, Amy Kuntz of Bloomington, IL; one sister, Velma Hoerr of Peoria, IL; 11 grandchildren, Andy (Kristina) Kuntz, Kristy (Zach) Langel, Abby (Phillip) McDonald, Katie Kuntz (Chris Turner), Heather (Matt) Olsen, Jimmy Hawley, Matthew (Alicia) Kuntz, Kerrie Kuntz, Daniel (Chelsea) Wagoner, Betsy (John) McLaughlin, and Emma Chmielewski; 15 great-grandchilden, Hadley and Kru McDonald, Beckett, Decker, and Harper Kuntz, Ryder and Emerson Langel, Julius and Violet Olsen, Graysha and Azalea Kuntz, and Damon, Lee, Neil, and Nathan Wagoner; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Otto Kuntz; and 5 sisters, Marie Kupferschmid, Lorene Purgett, Bernice Otto, Edith Otto, and Lila Leigh. Gladys was a homemaker. She attended the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston. She was an active member of the PTA and 4-H and served as a host for the National Sweetcorn Festival contestants. Gladys loved reading and writing and in 1994, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of writing a poetry book. She enjoyed entertaining, especially hosting tea parties with her friends and grandchildren. A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday May 22, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday May 23, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Jon Sharp and Pastor Adam Taubert officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Memorials may be made to the Samaritans Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607 or to Autumn Fields Adult Community Staff Appreciation, 325 E. Orange St. Hoopeston, IL 60942.
