Franklyn "Ty"

March 2, 1920 - March 8, 2013

Franklyn (Ty) Lee, 93, passed away at 5:55 A.M. on Friday March 8, 2013 at the Country Terrace Independent Living in Hoopeston, IL after an extended illness. The fourth of seven children, he was born in the East Lynn area on March 2, 1920 son of Roy and Ruth (Crane) Lee. He attended the East Lynn schools. Ty married Marjorie Mae Benbow on January 25, 1942 at her parents' home. They were married for 69 years. Marjorie preceded him in death on August of 2011. Survivors include two sons: William "Bill" Lee of Tulsa, Oklahoma and John (Theta) Lee of Wellington, IL; five grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, two sisters: Maxine Williams of Hoopeston, IL and Lois (Dick) Cantwell of Spencer, IN; two sisters-in-law: Carol Chaney of Watseka, IL and Eleanor Field of Wellington, IL and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, one sister-in-law and five brothers-in-law. Mr. Lee farmed in the Wellington area all of his life. He was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church. Ty enjoyed raising cattle and attending auctions. He also enjoyed square dancing and was an active member of the Sweet Corners Square Dance club for many years. Ty served on the Wellington School Board and the Board of Directors of the Wellington State Bank, now known as the Community Bank. He also served on the Goodwine Grain Cooperative board and was a Life Member of Illinois Farm Bureau. Ty received the Honorary State Farmer degree at the Illinois State FFA Convention in 1966. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
