Frances Marie Means

February 19, 1928 - August 25, 2017

Frances Marie Means, 89, of Hoopeston, IL, was carried in the arms of Jesus to her heavenly home on Friday evening, August 25, 2017, while surrounded by her family. She was born in Hoopeston on February 19, 1928, the daughter of Leonard and Annie (Simmons) Reece. She was united in marriage to Joseph Means on January 29, 1949. He survives. She is also survived by four children: Linda Means, Hoopeston; Stan Means, Piedmont, SC; Loretta (George) Sebastian, Phoenix, AZ; and Teresa (Jim) Moyer of Fishers, IN; four grandchildren--Jared (Lyndsey) Means; Megan (Thomas) Sneed; Travis Sebastian, and Daniel Moyer; four great grandchildren--Nora Katherine Sneed, Harper Jane Sneed, Hattie Eloise Means, and Jackson Samuel Means. Frances devoted her life to being a wife and mother and to helping others. Never wanting to be noticed, she demonstrated a servant’s heart by teaching Sunday School, helping in the nursery, and caring for her family and others. Besides spending time with family, she enjoyed her garden and flowers, quilting, baking cookies, walking, reading, and visiting with friends at McDonald’s. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four brothers, one sister, and one daughter-in-law. She is survived by one brother, Goebel Kenton Reece. She was a faithful member of First Baptist, serving in many capacities, until her health failed. During the last few months of her life, her Hospice team (Marj, Valerie, Tracy, and Vickie) and special caregivers (Rosalie and Pam) provided love, encouragement and comfort to her and her family. A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday August 29, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Adam Taubert and Pastor Steven Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to: First Baptist Church, 323 E. Seminary, Hoopeston, IL 60942 or Carle Hospice, 206A West Anthony Drive, Champaign, IL 61822.
