Darrell Reed Pickett

May 22, 1944 - July 17, 2021

Darrell Reed Pickett, 77, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 5:25 P.M. Saturday July 17, 2021, at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville, IN. He was born May 22, 1944, in rural Melrose, KY, the son of Bill and Dillie (Savage) Pickett. He is survived by one daughter, Amber (Ty) Obenland of Carmel, IL; one son, Darren Pickett of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, Charles Pickett of Edmonton, KY; two sisters-in-law, Betty Pickett, and Helen Pickett; one grandson, Tyler Reed Obenland; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Revela; and six brothers, Earl, Rondal, Billy, Ray, Otis, and Danny. Darrell was a retired United States Army veteran. He served in the Vietnam War and was awarded a purple heart medal for being wounded in action. He enjoyed antique cars and building and racing race cars. Cremation rites will be accorded, and no services will be held. Memorials may be made in Darrell’s honor to the Wounded Warrior Project or any veteran’s assistance program.
