Bruce Alan Carlson

August 25, 1954 - July 4, 2015

Bruce Alan Carlson, 60, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 12:00 P.M. Saturday July 4, 2015 at his home. He was born August 25, 1954, in Danville, IL, the son of Roy A. Carlson and Bessie “Lee” (Sprague) Laird. He married Linda Stephens on May 11, 1979, in Hoopeston, IL. She survives in Hoopeston. He is survived by his mother, Bessie “Lee” Laird of Hoopeston, IL; step-mother, Marjorie Carlson of Bushnell, FL; three daughters, Tammy Warf Roberts (Jon) of California, MO, Angie Warf Cade (Rickie) and Melissa Carlson Bird (Joel) all of Hoopeston, IL; one son, Ryan Carlson of Hoopeston, IL; eight grandchildren, Tanner Roberts, Meagan Cade, Renee Roberts, Chase Cade, Trinity Palomo, Michael Carlson, Raymond Carlson, and Zayden Carlson; one sister, Lynn (Rich) Garula of Westlake, OH; two brothers, Randall Carlson of Fairbanks, AK and Todd Laird of Chicago, IL; numerous step-sisters and step-brothers and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Carlson and step-father, Vernon Laird. Bruce worked at R.A. Carlson for many years doing HVAC work and was a union sheet metal worker. He then worked maintenance at ConAgra for several years. He later worked at Bauer Comfort Center and then for Cade’s Heating and Air. Bruce was a twenty one year member of the Hoopeston Fire Department, serving as an officer for many years. He was also a past president of the board for the Girls Softball Association, where he was also a coach and umpire. Bruce enjoyed fishing, golfing, listening to music and cheering on the Chicago Bears and Fighting Illini. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. The visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday July 9, 2015 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday July 10, 2015 at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce McQuigg officiating. Burial will follow in the Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Hoopeston Fire Department 301 W. Main St. Hoopeston, IL 60942 Attn: Fire Chief or New Beginnings of Hoopeston Church 204 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL 60942.
